Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Warm water - 100 ml
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Firm tofu - 100 grams, crumbled
- Shiitake mushrooms - 50 grams, finely chopped
- Carrot - 1 small, grated
- Green onions - 2, finely chopped
- Soy sauce (Kosher) - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Cooking oil - for frying (optional)
Steps
- In a bowl, mix the flour and salt, then gradually add the warm water while stirring, until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- In another bowl, combine the crumbled tofu, shiitake mushrooms, grated carrot, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic. Mix well to combine.
- After the dough has rested, divide it into two equal portions and roll each into a log. Cut each log into 10 equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a thin circle about 8 cm in diameter.
- Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each dumpling wrapper. Fold the wrapper over to create a half-moon shape and pinch the edges to seal tightly.
- In a steamer, add water and place the dumplings in a single layer, leaving space between them. Steam for 15 minutes.
- For pan-fried dumplings, heat a non-stick skillet with a little oil over medium heat. Add the steamed dumplings and fry until the bottoms are golden brown, about 3-5 minutes.
- Serve hot with additional soy sauce or a dipping sauce of your choice.
