Jiaozi are delicious Chinese dumplings filled with seasoned ground meat and vegetables, perfect for a hearty breakfast. This Halal version showcases a flavorful combination of chicken and fresh greens wrapped in tender dough.

Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Water - 100 ml
- Ground chicken - 150 grams
- Cabbage - 50 grams, finely chopped
- Green onions - 2, finely chopped
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Cooking oil - for frying
- Dipping sauce (soy sauce and vinegar mix) - to serve
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and water to form a dough. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth, then cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix the ground chicken, chopped cabbage, green onions, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- After the dough has rested, divide it into small balls (about 20 grams each). Roll each ball into a thin circle (about 10 cm in diameter).
- Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal tightly, creating a crescent shape.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little cooking oil. Arrange the dumplings in a single layer in the skillet and fry for 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown.
- Add 100 ml of water to the skillet and cover immediately. Let the dumplings steam for about 5-7 minutes until the water has evaporated.
- Remove the lid and cook for an additional 2 minutes to crisp up the bottoms again. Serve hot with dipping sauce.
