  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Honey or maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon (optional)
  • Green onions - 2, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1.5 cm thick slices.
  2. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey or maple syrup, minced garlic, grated ginger, black pepper, and chili flakes to create the marinade.
  3. Place the tofu slices in the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for at least 10 minutes.
  4. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat.
  5. Grill the marinated tofu slices for about 5-7 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and have grill marks.
  6. Remove from the grill, and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
