Ingredients
- Whole fish (e.g., tilapia or mackerel) - 400g
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 inch, grated
- Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 3 tablespoons
- Chili oil - 1 tablespoon
- Honey - 1 tablespoon
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Spring onions - 2, chopped
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Lemon - 1, for garnish
Steps
- Clean and gut the fish, then score the sides with shallow cuts to allow the marinade to penetrate.
- In a bowl, combine minced garlic, grated ginger, gluten-free soy sauce, chili oil, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, black pepper, and salt. Mix well to create the marinade.
- Place the fish in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it, ensuring it coats both the inside and outside. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat. Once hot, place the marinated fish on the grill.
- Cook the fish for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until the flesh is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
- Remove the fish from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes.
- Garnish with chopped spring onions and cilantro, and serve with lemon wedges on the side.
