Ingredients
- Duck breast - 400 grams
- Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 60 ml
- Hoisin sauce (gluten-free) - 30 ml
- Honey - 2 tablespoons
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Ginger, grated - 1 teaspoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Green onions, chopped (for garnish) - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice vinegar, five-spice powder, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
- Score the skin of the duck breast in a diamond pattern, being careful not to cut into the meat. Place the duck breast in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it, ensuring it is well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, preferably 2 hours.
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Remove the duck from the marinade and reserve the marinade for basting. Place the duck breast skin-side up on a wire rack set over a baking tray.
- Bake the duck in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, basting with the reserved marinade every 10 minutes, until the skin is crispy and the internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F).
- Once cooked, let the duck rest for 10 minutes before slicing it thinly.
- Serve the sliced duck garnished with chopped green onions and accompanied by steamed vegetables or rice.
