Ingredients

  • Ground pork - 300 grams
  • Green onions - 2, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
  • Coconut aminos - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon (optional)
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Butter lettuce leaves - 8 large
  • Cucumber - 1, thinly sliced
  • Carrot - 1, julienned
  • Fresh cilantro - a handful, for garnish

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground pork, green onions, garlic, ginger, coconut aminos, sesame oil, red chili flakes, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Form the pork mixture into 4 equal patties.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a bit of oil. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and browned.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the lettuce wraps by washing and drying the butter lettuce leaves.
  5. To assemble, place a pork patty in the center of each lettuce leaf. Top with cucumber slices, julienned carrot, and fresh cilantro.
  6. Serve immediately while the patties are warm, allowing everyone to wrap their own Huo Guo Bao.
