  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Shaoxing wine - 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic (minced) - 3 cloves
  • Ginger (minced) - 1 tablespoon
  • Red chili peppers (sliced) - 2
  • Bell pepper (sliced) - 1 medium
  • Green onion (chopped) - 2 stalks
  • Hunan chili paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Chicken broth - 100 ml
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the white fish fillet with soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, and cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the marinated fish and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown, then remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add garlic, ginger, and sliced red chili peppers. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the sliced bell pepper and green onion to the pan and cook for another 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
  5. Stir in the Hunan chili paste, chicken broth, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Return the cooked fish to the pan, gently coating it in the sauce. Drizzle with sesame oil and cook for an additional minute.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with extra green onions if desired.
