Ingredients

  • Fish fillets (tilapia or trout) - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Hunan chili paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic (minced) - 3 cloves
  • Ginger (minced) - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Honey - 1 tablespoon
  • Spring onions (chopped) - 2 stalks
  • Cilantro (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, Hunan chili paste, minced garlic, minced ginger, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and honey to create a marinade.
  2. Place the fish fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
  4. Remove the fish from the marinade and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  5. Grill the fish fillets for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and grill marks appear.
  6. Once cooked, remove the fish from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
  7. Garnish with chopped spring onions and cilantro before serving.
  8. Serve with lemon wedges on the side.
