Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Warm water - 100 ml
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Chicken breast, diced - 200 grams
- Hunan chili paste - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Ginger, minced - 1 teaspoon
- Red bell pepper, diced - 1 medium
- Green onions, chopped - 2 stalks
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Cornstarch - 1 teaspoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Egg - 1 large
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, warm water, olive oil, and salt to form a dough. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth, then cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- In a skillet over medium heat, add a little olive oil and sauté the garlic and ginger until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the diced chicken to the skillet and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the Hunan chili paste, red bell pepper, soy sauce, and cornstarch. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
- Remove from heat and mix in the chopped green onions and sesame oil. Let the filling cool slightly.
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F).
- Divide the dough into two equal portions and roll each out into a circle about 10 inches in diameter.
- Place one rolled-out dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spoon half of the chicken filling onto one half of the dough, leaving a border around the edges.
- Beat the egg and brush it around the edges of the filled dough. Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and press the edges to seal.
- Brush the top of the pie with the remaining egg wash and make a few slits for steam to escape.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Repeat with the second pie.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
