Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Warm water - 100 ml
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Chicken breast, diced - 200 grams
  • Hunan chili paste - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
  • Ginger, minced - 1 teaspoon
  • Red bell pepper, diced - 1 medium
  • Green onions, chopped - 2 stalks
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch - 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Egg - 1 large

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, warm water, olive oil, and salt to form a dough. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth, then cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add a little olive oil and sauté the garlic and ginger until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Add the diced chicken to the skillet and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in the Hunan chili paste, red bell pepper, soy sauce, and cornstarch. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  5. Remove from heat and mix in the chopped green onions and sesame oil. Let the filling cool slightly.
  6. Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F).
  7. Divide the dough into two equal portions and roll each out into a circle about 10 inches in diameter.
  8. Place one rolled-out dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spoon half of the chicken filling onto one half of the dough, leaving a border around the edges.
  9. Beat the egg and brush it around the edges of the filled dough. Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and press the edges to seal.
  10. Brush the top of the pie with the remaining egg wash and make a few slits for steam to escape.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Repeat with the second pie.
  12. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
