- Ground beef (80% lean) - 300 grams
- Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
- Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
- Hunan chili paste - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce (low sodium) - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Green onions (chopped) - 2 stalks
- Lettuce leaves (large, for wrapping) - 4 leaves
- Cucumber (sliced thin) - 50 grams
- Red bell pepper (sliced thin) - 50 grams
- Fresh cilantro (for garnish) - a handful
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, minced garlic, grated ginger, Hunan chili paste, soy sauce, sesame oil, chopped green onions, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Form the beef mixture into two equal patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the lettuce leaves by rinsing them and patting them dry.
- Once the patties are cooked, remove them from the skillet and let them rest for a minute.
- To assemble, place a beef patty on a lettuce leaf, top with sliced cucumber and red bell pepper, and garnish with fresh cilantro.
- Wrap the lettuce around the patty and enjoy your Hunan Beef Burger!
