Ingredients

  • Cauliflower - 1 medium head, cut into florets
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 inch, minced
  • Hunan chili paste - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free) - 2 tablespoons
  • Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onions - 2, sliced
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon, for garnish

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the cauliflower florets with olive oil, minced garlic, and minced ginger until well-coated.
  3. Spread the cauliflower evenly on a baking sheet and roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until golden brown and tender.
  4. While the cauliflower is roasting, prepare the BBQ sauce by combining Hunan chili paste, soy sauce, maple syrup, and rice vinegar in a small bowl. Mix well.
  5. Once the cauliflower is done roasting, remove it from the oven and drizzle the prepared BBQ sauce over the top. Toss to coat evenly.
  6. Return the cauliflower to the oven and roast for an additional 5 minutes to caramelize the sauce.
  7. Remove from the oven, garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds, then serve immediately.
