Ingredients

  • Chicken thighs - 300 grams, boneless and skinless
  • Honey - 3 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons (ensure it's kosher)
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 2 tablespoons
  • Green onions - 2, sliced for garnish
  • Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon for garnish

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and water to create the marinade.
  2. Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces and add them to the marinade. Let it sit for 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and add it to the skillet.
  4. Cook the chicken for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it is browned and cooked through.
  5. While the chicken is cooking, in a small bowl, mix cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water to create a slurry.
  6. Once the chicken is cooked, pour the reserved marinade into the skillet and bring it to a simmer.
  7. Add the cornstarch slurry to the skillet and stir until the sauce thickens, about 2 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat and serve the honey garlic chicken hot, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
