Ingredients
- Jasmine rice - 150 grams
- Water - 300 milliliters
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Green onions - 2, finely chopped
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon (gluten-free if needed)
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over high heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover with a lid, and simmer for 15-18 minutes until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
- While the rice cooks, heat the vegetable oil in a small pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing until fragrant (about 1-2 minutes).
- Once the rice is cooked, remove it from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the fluffed rice, sautéed garlic and ginger, chopped green onions, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix gently until well combined.
- Serve the Hakka Steamed Rice warm as a main dish or alongside your favorite protein.
