- Chicken thighs - 400 grams
- Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Hoisin sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Honey - 1 tablespoon
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, red chili powder, five-spice powder, sesame oil, honey, lime juice, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
- Add the chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for more flavor.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 200°C / 400°F).
- Remove the chicken from the marinade and let excess marinade drip off. Discard the remaining marinade.
- Grill the chicken thighs for about 6-7 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F) and the chicken is nicely charred.
- Remove from the grill and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
