Ingredients

  • Rice flour - 100 grams
  • Tapioca flour - 25 grams
  • Water - 300 ml
  • Shrimp (peeled and deveined) - 100 grams
  • Carrot (julienned) - 50 grams
  • Spinach (chopped) - 50 grams
  • Scallions (finely chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, tapioca flour, salt, and water to create a smooth batter.
  2. Let the batter rest for 10 minutes.
  3. Prepare a steamer and line the steaming tray with parchment paper.
  4. Pour a thin layer of the batter into the prepared tray, enough to cover the base completely.
  5. Sprinkle shrimp, carrot, spinach, and scallions evenly over the batter.
  6. Steam for 5-7 minutes or until the rice roll is set and translucent.
  7. Remove from steamer and carefully roll the rice roll from one end to the other.
  8. Repeat the process for the remaining batter and filling.
  9. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce and sesame oil for dipping.
  10. Serve the steamed rice rolls warm with the dipping sauce.
