Ingredients

  • Goat meat (boneless, cut into cubes) - 300 grams
  • Garlic (minced) - 3 cloves
  • Ginger (grated) - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce (or coconut aminos for Paleo) - 2 tablespoons
  • Honey (or date syrup for Paleo) - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onions (chopped) - 2 stalks
  • Salt - to taste
  • Lettuce leaves (for serving) - 4-6 leaves

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce (or coconut aminos), honey (or date syrup), rice vinegar, five-spice powder, chili flakes, black pepper, and sesame oil to create the marinade.
  2. Add the goat meat cubes to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or up to overnight for more flavor).
  3. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Remove the goat meat from the marinade and thread the cubes onto skewers (if using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning).
  5. Grill the skewers for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally until the meat is cooked through and has a nice char.
  6. Once cooked, remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.
  7. Serve the grilled goat meat on a bed of lettuce leaves, garnished with chopped green onions and additional chili flakes if desired.
