Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 400 grams
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Honey or agave syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Red chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions - 2, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Press the firm tofu for at least 15 minutes to remove excess water. This helps in achieving a better texture when grilled.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey (or agave syrup), minced garlic, grated ginger, and red chili flakes. Mix well to create the marinade.
  3. Cut the pressed tofu into 1.5 cm thick slices and place them in the marinade, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes.
  4. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
  5. Grill the marinated tofu slices for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they develop a nice char and are heated through.
  6. Remove the tofu from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes before serving.
  7. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving. Enjoy your Grilled Tofu with steamed rice or your favorite side dishes.
