Ingredients
- Firm tofu - 400 grams
- Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 2 tablespoons
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Honey or agave syrup - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Red chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
- Green onions - 2, chopped (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
Steps
- Press the firm tofu for at least 15 minutes to remove excess water. This helps in achieving a better texture when grilled.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey (or agave syrup), minced garlic, grated ginger, and red chili flakes. Mix well to create the marinade.
- Cut the pressed tofu into 1.5 cm thick slices and place them in the marinade, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
- Grill the marinated tofu slices for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they develop a nice char and are heated through.
- Remove the tofu from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes before serving.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving. Enjoy your Grilled Tofu with steamed rice or your favorite side dishes.
