- Soy sauce - 60 ml
- Hoisin sauce - 30 ml
- Honey - 30 grams
- Rice vinegar - 15 ml
- Five-spice powder - 5 grams
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 10 grams, grated
- Sesame oil - 10 ml
- Spring onions - 2 stalks, chopped for garnish
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice vinegar, five-spice powder, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil to create a marinade.
- Cut the pork belly into thick slices, approximately 2-3 cm thick, and place them in the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for a stronger flavor.
- Preheat your grill or BBQ to medium-high heat.
- Remove the pork belly from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off. Reserve the marinade for basting.
- Place the pork belly slices on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, basting with the reserved marinade, until they are caramelized and cooked through.
- Once cooked, remove the pork belly from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes.
- Slice the grilled pork belly and serve hot, garnished with chopped spring onions.
