Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Lemongrass stalks - 2, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - for grilling
  • Chopped cilantro - for garnish

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15-20 minutes to remove excess water, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped lemongrass, minced garlic, soy sauce, maple syrup, sesame oil, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  3. Add the tofu cubes to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated, and let them marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat and lightly brush it with vegetable oil.
  5. Thread the marinated tofu onto skewers (if using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes first).
  6. Grill the tofu skewers for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and slightly charred.
  7. Remove from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes before serving.
  8. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve with steamed rice or a fresh salad.
