Ingredients

  • Chinese broccoli (Gai Lan) - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon (optional)
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon, toasted

Steps

  1. Start by rinsing the Chinese broccoli under cold water and trimming the ends to remove any tough or woody parts.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, chili flakes (if using), and lemon juice to create the marinade.
  3. Place the trimmed Chinese broccoli into the marinade and let it soak for at least 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  4. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Once hot, place the marinated Chinese broccoli onto the grill. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until tender and slightly charred.
  6. Remove the grilled broccoli from the grill and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds before serving.
