- Hoisin sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Honey - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, minced
- Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Green onions - 2, chopped (for garnish)
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, minced garlic, minced ginger, five-spice powder, sesame oil, and black pepper to create the marinade.
- Add the chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for better flavor.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Remove the chicken from the marinade and let any excess drip off. Discard the leftover marinade.
- Place the chicken thighs on the grill and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F) and the chicken is nicely charred.
- Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and serve with steamed rice or vegetables.
