Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice flour - 150 grams
  • Water - 120 milliliters
  • Sugar - 30 grams
  • Red bean paste - 50 grams
  • Coconut milk - 50 milliliters
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Cornstarch - for dusting

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine glutinous rice flour, sugar, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Gradually add water and coconut milk to the dry ingredients, stirring until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
  3. Lightly grease a small steaming dish or heatproof plate and pour half of the batter into it, spreading it evenly.
  4. Spoon the red bean paste in the center of the batter, then cover it with the remaining batter.
  5. Prepare a steamer and bring water to a boil. Place the dish in the steamer and cover it with a lid.
  6. Steam the rice cake for about 30 minutes, or until it is set and firm to the touch.
  7. Once cooked, remove from the steamer and let it cool for a few minutes before dusting with cornstarch to prevent sticking.
  8. Cut the cake into squares and serve warm or at room temperature.
