Ingredients

  • Gluten-free all-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Sugar - 40 grams
  • Baking powder - 5 grams
  • Salt - 1 gram
  • Warm water - 120 ml
  • Vegetable oil - 30 ml
  • Sweetened red bean paste - 100 grams
  • Sesame seeds - for topping (optional) - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine gluten-free all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix warm water and vegetable oil, then gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces and flatten each piece into a small disc.
  6. Place about 25 grams of sweetened red bean paste in the center of each disc, fold the edges over to seal the filling, and shape into a bun.
  7. Place the buns seam-side down on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  8. Optional: Brush the tops with a little vegetable oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  9. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake the buns for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
