Ingredients

  • Gluten-Free All-Purpose Flour - 200 grams
  • Baking Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Water - 120 ml (warm)
  • Vegetable Oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Char Siu Pork - 150 grams (cooked and diced)
  • Hoisin Sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy Sauce (gluten-free) - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame Oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Green Onions - 1 tablespoon (finely chopped)

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine gluten-free all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Gradually add warm water and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms, then knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, prepare the filling by mixing the diced char siu pork, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, and green onions in a bowl. Set aside.
  5. After resting, divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a circle about 10 cm in diameter.
  6. Place a spoonful of the char siu filling in the center of each dough circle. Gather the edges and pinch them together to seal the bun.
  7. Place the filled buns on small squares of parchment paper to prevent sticking. Let them rise for another 10 minutes.
  8. Steam the buns in a steamer basket over boiling water for 15-20 minutes until fluffy and cooked through.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy your gluten-free char siu bao!
