Ingredients
- Gluten-Free All-Purpose Flour - 200 grams
- Baking Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Water - 120 ml (warm)
- Vegetable Oil - 1 tablespoon
- Char Siu Pork - 150 grams (cooked and diced)
- Hoisin Sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Soy Sauce (gluten-free) - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame Oil - 1 teaspoon
- Green Onions - 1 tablespoon (finely chopped)
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine gluten-free all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- Gradually add warm water and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms, then knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, prepare the filling by mixing the diced char siu pork, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, and green onions in a bowl. Set aside.
- After resting, divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a circle about 10 cm in diameter.
- Place a spoonful of the char siu filling in the center of each dough circle. Gather the edges and pinch them together to seal the bun.
- Place the filled buns on small squares of parchment paper to prevent sticking. Let them rise for another 10 minutes.
- Steam the buns in a steamer basket over boiling water for 15-20 minutes until fluffy and cooked through.
- Serve warm and enjoy your gluten-free char siu bao!
