Ingredients

  • Seitan - 200 grams
  • Fresh ginger - 20 grams, grated
  • Scallions - 4, finely chopped
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons (30 ml)
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon (15 ml)
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon (15 ml)
  • Brown sugar - 1 teaspoon (5 grams)
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons (30 ml)
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix the grated ginger, chopped scallions, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, brown sugar, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  2. Slice the seitan into bite-sized pieces and add it to the marinade. Toss to coat evenly and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated seitan pieces, reserving the marinade for later.
  4. Cook the seitan for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown and slightly crispy.
  5. Pour the reserved marinade over the seitan and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with extra chopped scallions if desired.
