Ingredients

  • Shrimp (peeled and deveined) - 300 grams
  • Jasmine rice - 150 grams
  • Garlic (minced) - 4 cloves
  • Ginger (minced) - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions (chopped) - 2 stalks
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Oyster sauce (Halal) - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Water - 300 milliliters

Steps

  1. Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak for 15 minutes.
  2. In a pot, combine the soaked rice with 300 milliliters of water and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
  3. While the rice is cooking, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add the minced garlic and ginger to the skillet, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the shrimp turn pink and are cooked through.
  6. Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil, mixing well to coat the shrimp evenly. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  7. Remove the skillet from heat and add the chopped green onions, mixing to combine.
  8. Fluff the cooked rice with a fork and serve it on plates, topped with the garlic shrimp mixture.
