- Jasmine rice - 150 grams
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Fresh chives - 50 grams, finely chopped
- Vegetable broth - 300 ml
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, but not browned.
- Add the rinsed jasmine rice to the saucepan and stir to coat the rice with the garlic oil for about 1 minute.
- Pour in the vegetable broth and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 15 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and stir in the chopped chives, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper to taste.
- Serve warm as a side dish or a light main course.
