Ingredients

  • Jasmine rice - 150 grams
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Fresh chives - 50 grams, finely chopped
  • Vegetable broth - 300 ml
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, but not browned.
  3. Add the rinsed jasmine rice to the saucepan and stir to coat the rice with the garlic oil for about 1 minute.
  4. Pour in the vegetable broth and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 15 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.
  5. Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Fluff the rice with a fork and stir in the chopped chives, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper to taste.
  7. Serve warm as a side dish or a light main course.
