- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Green onion - 2, finely chopped
- Coconut aminos - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon (optional)
- Lettuce leaves - 6 large (e.g., romaine or butter lettuce)
- Cucumber - 1, sliced

- Fresh cilantro - a handful, chopped
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground pork, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped green onion, coconut aminos, sesame oil, and chili flakes (if using).
- Mix the ingredients thoroughly until well combined, then form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a splash of oil if desired. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and golden brown.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the lettuce leaves by washing and patting them dry.
- Once the patties are done, assemble the Gao Fen by placing a patty in the center of a lettuce leaf, then top with sliced cucumber, julienned carrot, and chopped cilantro.
- Wrap the lettuce around the filling to create a burger, and serve immediately.
