Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice - 150g
  • Water - 200ml
  • Dried apricots - 30g, chopped
  • Dried cranberries - 30g
  • Almonds - 20g, chopped
  • Walnuts - 20g, chopped
  • Honey - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - a pinch

Steps

  1. Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 1 hour.
  2. Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel.
  3. Steam the rice over simmering water for about 20 minutes or until translucent and fully cooked.
  4. In a bowl, combine the steamed rice with chopped dried apricots, dried cranberries, chopped almonds, chopped walnuts, honey, sesame seeds, and a pinch of salt.
  5. Mix the ingredients well until evenly combined, then allow the mixture to cool slightly.
  6. Wet your hands and form small balls (about the size of a golf ball) from the rice mixture, pressing firmly to hold them together.
  7. Place the formed rice balls on a plate and let them cool completely before serving.
