Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Red bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Green bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Spring onions - 2, chopped (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the tofu cubes until golden brown on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add a little more oil if necessary, then sauté the minced garlic and ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add the sliced red and green bell peppers to the skillet and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until they are slightly tender but still crisp.
  6. Return the fried tofu to the skillet, then add soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Toss everything together and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  7. Garnish with chopped spring onions before serving.
