Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Cornstarch - 3 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Skewers - 4 (soaked in water if wooden)
  • Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon (optional)
  • Green onions - for garnish

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for at least 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and chili flakes (if using). Add the tofu cubes and gently toss to coat. Let marinate for 10 minutes.
  3. After marination, remove the tofu from the marinade and sprinkle the cornstarch evenly over the cubes, ensuring they're well-coated.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the tofu cubes in batches and fry until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  5. Once fried, remove the tofu and let it drain on paper towels.
  6. Thread the fried tofu onto skewers and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
