Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Cornstarch - 3 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Chili sauce - for serving (optional)

Steps

  1. Press the firm tofu for about 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 2 cm cubes.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, and black pepper. Add the tofu cubes and gently toss to coat. Let it marinate for 10 minutes.
  3. After marinating, sprinkle the cornstarch over the tofu cubes and toss again until they are evenly coated.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the tofu cubes in batches, frying them until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
  5. Use a slotted spoon to remove the tofu puffs from the oil and drain them on paper towels.
  6. Serve warm with chili sauce on the side, if desired.
