Ingredients
- Firm tofu - 200 grams
- Cornstarch - 3 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - for frying
- Chili sauce - for serving (optional)
Steps
- Press the firm tofu for about 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 2 cm cubes.
- In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, and black pepper. Add the tofu cubes and gently toss to coat. Let it marinate for 10 minutes.
- After marinating, sprinkle the cornstarch over the tofu cubes and toss again until they are evenly coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the tofu cubes in batches, frying them until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove the tofu puffs from the oil and drain them on paper towels.
- Serve warm with chili sauce on the side, if desired.
