Ingredients
- Firm tofu - 200 grams
- Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
- Carrot - 1 medium, grated
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
- Wonton wrappers - 10 pieces
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- Vegetable oil - for frying
- Salt - to taste
Steps
- Press the firm tofu to remove excess moisture, then crumble it into a bowl.
- Add chopped green onions, grated carrot, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and a pinch of salt to the crumbled tofu. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
- Take a wonton wrapper and place a tablespoon of the tofu mixture in the center. Moisten the edges with water, fold the wrapper over to create a pocket, and seal the edges tightly. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
- In a shallow dish, spread cornstarch evenly. Dredge each tofu pocket in the cornstarch, ensuring they are well-coated.
- In a deep skillet or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium heat until hot. Fry the tofu pockets in batches, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the fried pockets and drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve hot.
