Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Carrot - 1 medium, grated
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Wonton wrappers - 10 pieces
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Salt - to taste

Steps

  1. Press the firm tofu to remove excess moisture, then crumble it into a bowl.
  2. Add chopped green onions, grated carrot, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and a pinch of salt to the crumbled tofu. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
  3. Take a wonton wrapper and place a tablespoon of the tofu mixture in the center. Moisten the edges with water, fold the wrapper over to create a pocket, and seal the edges tightly. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  4. In a shallow dish, spread cornstarch evenly. Dredge each tofu pocket in the cornstarch, ensuring they are well-coated.
  5. In a deep skillet or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium heat until hot. Fry the tofu pockets in batches, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Remove the fried pockets and drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve hot.
