Ingredients

  • Firm Tofu - 250 grams
  • Cornstarch - 50 grams
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black Pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garlic Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable Oil - 500 milliliters (for frying)
  • Chili Sauce - 2 tablespoons (for serving)
  • Fresh Chopped Cilantro - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Press the firm tofu for about 15 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  2. Cut the pressed tofu into 2 cm cubes.
  3. In a bowl, mix cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika together.
  4. Coat each tofu cube evenly with the cornstarch mixture.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
  6. Carefully add the coated tofu cubes to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
  7. Fry the tofu for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove the fried tofu and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  9. Serve hot with chili sauce and garnish with fresh chopped cilantro.
