Ingredients

  • Nian Gao (rice cake) - 200 grams
  • Rice flour - 50 grams
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cooking oil - for frying
  • Soy sauce - for dipping

Steps

  1. Slice the nian gao into 1cm thick pieces.
  2. In a bowl, mix rice flour, water, sugar, and salt to create a batter. The batter should be thick but pourable.
  3. Dip each slice of nian gao into the batter, ensuring they are well coated.
  4. Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  5. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the coated nian gao pieces into the pan, ensuring not to overcrowd.
  6. Fry each side for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove from the pan and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  8. Serve warm with soy sauce for dipping.
