  • Baking powder - 5 grams
  • Vegetable oil - for frying

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
  3. Pour the yeast mixture into the flour mixture and knead until a smooth dough forms, about 10 minutes.
  4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 20 minutes or until doubled in size.
  5. Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into two equal portions.
  6. Roll each portion into a long rope, about 30 cm long, and twist them together to form a braid.
