Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 250 grams
  • Baking powder - 5 grams
  • Salt - 5 grams
  • Sugar - 10 grams
  • Water - 150 ml
  • Vegetable oil - for frying (about 500 ml)

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Mix well.
  2. Gradually add water to the dry ingredients while mixing until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.
  5. After resting, divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long strip, about 1 cm thick.
  6. Stack two strips on top of each other and gently press them together with your fingers.
  7. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, gently stretch each dough strip and carefully place them in the oil.
  8. Fry until golden brown and puffed up, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  9. Remove the fried dough sticks and drain on paper towels before serving.
