Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 150 grams
  • Butter - 75 grams, cold and cubed
  • Cold water - 3 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Red bell pepper - 1 medium, diced
  • Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • Broccoli florets - 100 grams
  • Mushrooms - 100 grams, sliced
  • Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese - 100 grams
  • Green onions - 2, sliced for garnish

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and cubed cold butter. Use your fingers to rub the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  3. Add the cold water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together. Form it into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  4. In a skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Add the diced red bell pepper, julienned carrot, broccoli florets, and sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 5 minutes until the vegetables start to soften.
  6. Sprinkle the five-spice powder and soy sauce over the vegetables, stirring well to combine. Cook for another 2 minutes, then remove from heat.
  7. Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to fit a 9-inch tart pan. Press the dough into the pan and trim any excess.
  8. Spread the sautéed vegetables evenly over the crust and sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
  10. Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, and garnish with sliced green onions before serving.
