Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Five spice powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Scallions - 2, chopped
  • Vegetable oil - 3 tablespoons
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for about 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut into cubes.
  2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, sesame oil, five spice powder, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add the tofu cubes to the marinade and toss gently to coat. Let it marinate for 10 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle cornstarch over the marinated tofu and toss to coat evenly.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  6. Add the tofu cubes to the skillet in a single layer and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden and crispy.
  7. Remove the tofu from the skillet and garnish with chopped scallions before serving.
