Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Chinese five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, Chinese five-spice powder, minced garlic, and minced ginger to create a marinade.
  3. Add the tofu cubes to the marinade and let it soak for at least 10 minutes.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  5. Add the marinated tofu to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until golden brown.
  6. Add the sliced bell pepper and julienned carrot to the skillet, stir-frying for an additional 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender yet crisp.
  7. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  8. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
