- tempeh - 200 grams
- soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- burger buns - 2 pieces
- cucumber - 1/2, thinly sliced
- carrot - 1/2, julienned
- fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
- vegan mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
- sriracha - 1 teaspoon (optional)
Steps
- Slice the tempeh into 1 cm thick patties and steam for 10 minutes to soften.
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, five-spice powder, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
- Marinate the steamed tempeh in the mixture for at least 10 minutes.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat, and cook the marinated tempeh patties for 5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Toast the burger buns in the skillet for 1-2 minutes until lightly crisp.
- Spread vegan mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun, then place a tempeh patty on top.
- Top with sliced cucumber, julienned carrot, and chopped cilantro.
- Drizzle with sriracha if desired, then place the top half of the bun to complete the burger.
- Serve immediately with your favorite side dish.
