- Jasmine rice - 150 grams
- Water - 300 milliliters
- Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
- Carrot - 1 medium, diced
- Bell pepper - 1, diced
- Green peas - 100 grams (fresh or frozen)
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- Spring onions - 2, sliced
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and 300 ml of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes or until the water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for another 5 minutes.
- In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the diced carrot and bell pepper to the skillet, cooking for about 5 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the green peas, soy sauce, and five-spice powder, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Fluff the cooked rice with a fork and add it to the skillet with the vegetables. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
- Drizzle with sesame oil, and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Stir in sliced spring onions just before serving.
