Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Chinese five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Red bell pepper - 1, sliced
  • Cilantro - a handful, for garnish

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into thick slices.
  2. In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, five-spice powder, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the marinade.
  3. Add the tofu slices to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Let them marinate for at least 10 minutes.
  4. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat.
  5. Place the marinated tofu slices on the grill, cooking for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden and slightly charred.
  6. During the last few minutes of grilling, add the sliced red bell pepper to the grill until tender.
