Ingredients
- Duck breast - 300 grams
- Five spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- Soy sauce (low sodium) - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Coconut aminos - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Green onions - 2, chopped (for garnish)
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a small bowl, mix together the five spice powder, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, coconut aminos, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
- Score the skin of the duck breast in a crisscross pattern, being careful not to cut into the meat.
- Rub the marinade all over the duck breasts, ensuring it gets into the scored skin. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Place the duck breasts skin-side down in a cold skillet over medium heat. Cook for about 6-8 minutes to render the fat until the skin is crispy.
- Flip the duck breasts and transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Roast for an additional 8-10 minutes for medium-rare, or until the desired doneness is reached.
- Remove from the oven and let the duck rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
- Serve the sliced duck garnished with chopped green onions.
