Ingredients

  • Ground chicken - 250 grams
  • Five spice powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - ½ teaspoon

  • Green onion, finely chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - ½ teaspoon
  • Black pepper - ¼ teaspoon
  • Gluten-free burger buns - 2
  • Butter or oil for cooking - 1 tablespoon
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Cucumber, sliced - ½ cup
  • Hoison sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame seeds for garnish - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, five spice powder, garlic powder, grated ginger, chopped green onion, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  2. Form the mixture into two equal-sized patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the butter or oil. Once hot, add the patties to the skillet.
  4. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until they are cooked through and have a nice golden-brown crust.
  5. While the patties are cooking, prepare the gluten-free burger buns by toasting them lightly in a separate pan or in a toaster.
  6. Once the patties are cooked, assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the cooked patty, sliced cucumber, and a drizzle of hoisin sauce.
  7. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top before closing the burger with the other half of the bun.
