- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Burger buns (kosher) - 2 pieces
- Hoisin sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Cucumber (sliced thin) - 1/2 cup
- Green onion (sliced) - 1/4 cup
- Cilantro (fresh leaves) - 1/4 cup
Steps
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef, five spice powder, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Form the mixture into two equally sized patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until they reach your desired doneness.
- While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.
- Once the burgers are cooked, assemble them by spreading hoisin sauce on the bottom half of each bun.
- Place the patty on the bun, then top with sliced cucumber, green onion, and fresh cilantro.
- Cover with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
