Ingredients
- White fish fillets (such as cod or tilapia) - 300 grams
- Soy sauce - 60 ml
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Ginger, grated - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Green onions, sliced - 2 stalks
- Red chili pepper, sliced (optional) - 1
- Brown sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 60 ml
- Cornstarch - 1 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and water to create the marinade.
- Place the fish fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring the fish is well coated. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Remove fish from the marinade, reserving the marinade for later.
- Add the fish to the pan and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. Remove the fish and set aside on a plate.
- In the same pan, add the reserved marinade and bring to a simmer. Mix cornstarch with a little water to make a slurry, then add to the marinade to thicken it, stirring constantly.
- Once the sauce has thickened, return the fish to the pan and coat it with the sauce. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Serve the fish hot, garnished with sliced green onions and red chili pepper if desired.
