Ingredients
- Eggs - 2 large
- Milk - 200 ml (preferably low-fat)
- Water - 100 ml
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon (15 g)
- Vanilla extract - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - a pinch
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the milk and water to the egg mixture, whisking gently to avoid creating bubbles.
- Strain the mixture through a fine sieve into another bowl to remove any chalazae or lumps.
- Pour the strained mixture into two small heatproof bowls or ramekins.
- Cover each bowl with aluminum foil to prevent water from dripping into the custard during steaming.
- Fill a steamer pot with water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium.
- Place the bowls in the steamer basket, cover, and steam for about 15-20 minutes until the custard is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
- Remove the bowls from the steamer and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
