Ingredients

  • Eggs - 2 large
  • Milk - 200 ml (preferably low-fat)
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon (15 g)
  • Vanilla extract - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - a pinch

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  2. Gradually add the milk and water to the egg mixture, whisking gently to avoid creating bubbles.
  3. Strain the mixture through a fine sieve into another bowl to remove any chalazae or lumps.
  4. Pour the strained mixture into two small heatproof bowls or ramekins.
  5. Cover each bowl with aluminum foil to prevent water from dripping into the custard during steaming.
  6. Fill a steamer pot with water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium.
  7. Place the bowls in the steamer basket, cover, and steam for about 15-20 minutes until the custard is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
  8. Remove the bowls from the steamer and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
