Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Warm water - 100 ml
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Minced chicken - 150 grams
  • Carrot, finely chopped - 50 grams
  • Spring onion, chopped - 30 grams
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic, minced - 1 clove
  • Ginger, minced - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Egg, beaten - 1 for egg wash

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add warm water while stirring until a dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.
  3. In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and ginger, sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add minced chicken, carrot, and spring onion to the skillet. Cook until the chicken is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Stir in soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, then remove from heat and let cool.
  6. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  7. Divide the rested dough into two equal portions. Roll each portion into a circle about 3mm thick.
  8. Place half of the chicken filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and seal the edges by pressing with a fork.
  9. Brush the tops of the pastries with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and flaky.
  11. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
