- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Warm water - 100 ml
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Minced chicken - 150 grams
- Carrot, finely chopped - 50 grams
- Spring onion, chopped - 30 grams
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic, minced - 1 clove
- Ginger, minced - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Egg, beaten - 1 for egg wash
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add warm water while stirring until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.
- In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and ginger, sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add minced chicken, carrot, and spring onion to the skillet. Cook until the chicken is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, then remove from heat and let cool.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Divide the rested dough into two equal portions. Roll each portion into a circle about 3mm thick.
- Place half of the chicken filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and seal the edges by pressing with a fork.
- Brush the tops of the pastries with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and flaky.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
