Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice flour - 100 grams
  • Tapioca starch - 30 grams
  • Water - 120 ml
  • Raw sesame seeds - 50 grams
  • Red bean paste - 80 grams
  • Coconut sugar - 20 grams
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Vegetable oil - for brushing

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the glutinous rice flour, tapioca starch, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Gradually add the water to the flour mixture, stirring until a smooth dough forms.
  4. In another bowl, mix the red bean paste with coconut sugar until well combined.
  5. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and flatten each portion into a round disc.
  6. Place a teaspoon of red bean paste in the center of each disc and fold the edges over to seal, rolling them into balls.
  7. Roll each ball in a plate of raw sesame seeds, ensuring they are well coated.
  8. Place the sesame balls on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and brush the tops lightly with vegetable oil.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown, turning halfway through for even cooking.
